Bridal lingerie guide, what to wear under your wedding dress
Under a wedding dress, choose by the back and the silhouette: a convertible low-back bra for open backs, a smoothing bodysuit for fitted gowns, a boned bustier for strapless, and lace top hold-ups for short dresses. Buy before your second fitting.
Bridal lingerie has two jobs on the same day. During the ceremony it has to disappear under the gown and keep you comfortable for twelve hours. Later it has to feel like a reveal. You can solve both with one or two pieces if you start with the dress.
Start with the back of the dress

When should I buy bridal lingerie?
Before your second dress fitting. Your seamstress adjusts the bodice and the waist over whatever you wear that day, so arriving with the real lingerie means the dress is cut for it. Bring the shoes too, because heel height changes the hem.
Ivory, white or skin tone?
Under an ivory or champagne gown, bright white lingerie can show through as a cold patch in photos. Choose ivory to match, or a tone close to your skin under very sheer panels. Our bridal pieces are all in avorio, a warm ivory chosen to sit under most gowns.
Getting ready
A robe for the getting ready hour is half practical and half photography. It should open at the front so you can step into the dress without touching your hair, with lapels wide enough to keep make-up off the fabric. The wedding night

Do I need a garter?
Only if you want the tradition. A keepsake leg garter is separate from a garter belt, which holds stockings.
