A boned lace bustier that works under a jacket
The Bridal edit
Bridal bustier and wedding corset in ivory lace
The Bustier Diva is a boned ivory lace bridal bustier with underwired cups and detachable straps, so it works strapless under a sweetheart or straight neckline gown and as wedding night lingerie after. It costs $245, comes in bra sizes 30B to 40DD and ships express across the US in 2 to 4 business days.

01
Support without straps
Underwired cups and flexible boning carry the bust from the band, so the straps can come off for a strapless gown and nothing slides during the first dance.
-
02
A smooth line to the waist
The bustier ends at the waist, so a fitted bodice sits over one even layer of lace instead of a bra band and a brief edge.

From the ceremony to the night
It is lingerie first. After the reception it is the piece you change into, with the Velo garter set and ivory stockings.

Which gowns need a bridal bustier
A bridal bustier earns its place under a strapless or off the shoulder gown, where a regular bra has nowhere to hide its straps and a strapless bra alone tends to slip by the evening. It also helps under a structured bodice that is cut close to the ribs, because one boned layer reads smoother than a bra band plus a brief. Under an open or plunging back, it is the wrong choice, since the back band would show.
| Your gown | Best base layer | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Strapless, sweetheart or straight neckline | Bustier Diva, avorio, straps off | Underwire and boning hold the bust without straps |
| Off the shoulder or illusion neckline | Bustier Diva, avorio | The cups sit low enough to stay hidden under the neckline |
| Open back or low back | Sposa ivory lace set, bra in low back mode | A bustier band would show; the convertible bra drops below the back line |
| Fitted mermaid or sheath, high back | Luna di Miele bodysuit | One smooth line from bust to hip |
| Corset back ball gown with its own boning | Sposa set or Luna bodysuit | The gown already shapes the waist, so a second boned layer only adds bulk |
If you are still choosing between pieces for an open back gown, our guide to the best underwear for a backless wedding dress covers every back height.
Bridal bustier or wedding corset
Brides search for both, and they are not the same piece. A wedding corset in the strict sense has rigid steel bones and a laced back, and it pulls the waist in. A bridal bustier has lighter, flexible boning and real bra cups, and its main job is to support the bust and smooth the torso under the gown. For a twelve hour wedding day, most brides are better served by the bustier: it moves when you sit, eat and dance, and you can put it on alone.
| Bridal bustier (Bustier Diva) | Steel boned corset | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Bust support and a smooth line | Waist shaping |
| Cups | Underwired lace cups, sized 30B to 40DD | Usually none, or shallow |
| Boning | Light and flexible | Rigid spiral or flat steel |
| Closure | Hook and eye front, dress yourself | Laced back, needs a helper |
| All day comfort | Comfortable seated and dancing | Firm, best for a few hours |
| In ivory | Yes, $245 | Our Corsetto Contessa comes in black and red only |
So if you want a true laced corset for the wedding night rather than the ceremony, the Contessa in black is the one, and the full range is on our corset lingerie page. Under an ivory gown, the ivory bustier is what we recommend.
How to size a bridal bustier
A bustier is sized like a bra, so start from your bra size and then check two things that a bra never tells you. First, the band: a bustier carries all the support from the band, so it should feel firm on the loosest hook, and if you are between bands, choose the firmer one and go up a cup (34C to 32D). Second, the length: the bustier ends at the natural waist, so if you have a long torso, wear it to a fitting before the alterations start. Our size guide lists every measurement, and our luxury lingerie fitting guide explains band and cup in detail. Sizes run 30B to 40DD.
When to buy it and what to wear with it
Buy the bustier before your second dress fitting. Your seamstress alters the bodice over what you will actually wear, and a bustier changes the shape of the bust and the line at the waist enough to matter. Order three to six weeks before the wedding, which leaves time for one free size exchange under the Fit Promise; unworn pieces with tags can be returned within 30 days. With it, most brides add the bridal garter belt and wedding garter set and ivory lace top hold-ups, and the silk bridal robe for the morning. The whole edit is on the bridal lingerie page, and the night after the reception is covered in wedding night lingerie.
What the Bustier Diva is made of
The shell is a soft stretch lace (86 percent polyamide, 14 percent elastane) over a tulle lining, with underwired cups, light flexible boning, a hook and eye front and detachable straps. The ivory is a warm avorio, the same shade as our Sposa set and the Calze Pizzo hold-ups, so it does not look stark white beside an ivory or champagne gown. It also comes in black and powder pink, which many brides choose for the honeymoon. Hand wash cold and dry flat, and it will last long past the wedding. Orders ship express within the US in 2 to 4 business days in a plain outer box, and shipping is free from $150.
Questions about bridal bustier and wedding corset in ivory lace
What is a bridal bustier?
A bridal bustier is a boned top with bra cups that ends at the waist, worn under a wedding gown for strapless support and a smooth line. It is lighter and more comfortable than a laced corset, and most brides wear it again as wedding night lingerie.
Do I need a bustier under a strapless wedding dress?
Not always. Many gowns have boning and cups built in, and then a strapless bra or nothing is enough. Choose a bustier when the gown has little inner structure, when you have a fuller bust, or when a strapless bra slipped during your fitting.
Is a bustier or a corset better for a wedding dress?
For most brides a bustier is better under the gown, because it supports the bust, moves when you sit and dance, and you can fasten it yourself. A laced steel boned corset shapes the waist more but is firm to wear for a whole day.
Can you wear a bustier with an open back wedding dress?
Usually not. A bustier has a back band that shows under an open or low back. Choose a low back convertible bra, like the one in our Sposa set, or adhesive cups if the back drops to the waist.
What color bustier should I wear under a white wedding dress?
Ivory or a shade close to your skin tone. Bright white can show through thin fabric and looks blue next to ivory silk. Our Bustier Diva in avorio is a warm ivory, and the powder pink is closer to many skin tones under very sheer gowns.
How much does a bridal bustier cost?
Simple bridal bustiers start around $60, and designer pieces run several hundred dollars, with made to order corsetry above $1,000. The Bustier Diva is $245 with free express US shipping, and one free size exchange.
